Kissing cousins

Ella: Mom, when I grow up, guess who I'm going to marry? Dalton. Because he is handsome enough.

Ella's cousin Dalton is handsome. Whether he's genetically diverse enough from Ella is another question. They have been having a lot of fun together though.

Hoyt Arboretum

When we woke up yesterday it was sunny. Well, we could see blue sky. There was definitely some sun somewhere. This doesn't happen very often here, so we made a mad dash to the Arboretum to take in a little damp-but-not-drenched nature.

Andrew says he doesn't pay attention in museums, but he obviously does. How else do you explain the perfect Renaissance Holy Family pyramid that he's carefully chosen to compose this image? Incidentally, I think this is a pretty good microcosm of our most frequently used facial expressions...

"Mom, this is my regular smile!"

Good news. Spring is coming.

No, this is her regular smile.

Drinking Tea and Picking Candidates

Claire loves the teaset that Grandma sent the girls for Valentine's day.

She's game for anything involving water.

Elephant Seals

We had a bucket list of things to do before leaving California. On the top of my list was visiting the Elephant Seals at Ano Nuevo State Park.

Here you can see the dominant Alpha Male in his natural habitat.

Defending the honor of his harem.
A beta

An Ella

Claire and dad. I know, I know, we need to get her a coat that doesn't blend into her natural skin tone so well.

Wheat Chex

I'm a little behind in my blogging. For one thing, I haven't let the world at large know that my daughter, Claire, LOVES Wheat Chex. Sorry World, to let you fall so far behind on our life's news.

She really does love them. And it really is so much easier to blog pictures taken by my iphone than the high quality pictures taken by our new camera. But as you can tell by Claire's face, it's worth waiting for!!

Hard to fathom

Mom: Ella, can you just get off of me?

Ella: Why?

Mom: I'm just tired of being mauled and manhandled by little people!

Ella: So you only like big people on you?
