Happy Birthday Ella!

Ella thought her birthday would NEVER come.

First it was MaryAnn's birthday...

Then Annie's...
Then Emma's...

Then Carrie/America's...

Then Daddy's...
Poor Ella was convinced that it would always be someone ELSE'S birthday. Finally, November 12, her birthday arrived. All her friends came over for a very fancy tea party.

They wore fancy clothes, and ate fancy foods with fancy manners.
Ella finally got to blow out the candles all by herself

After the party was over she was tired; but the next day the first things she said to me when she woke up was, "I'm ready to finish my birthday!" Too bad we'll have to wait another whole year for the next one.

Pumpkin Carving

We invited Jameson over to help us create artistic masterpieces on pumpkin canvasses. The first thing to do is find the right pumpkin, so we headed up to Webb Ranch. Ella found lots of little babies she liked.
Ella loved having Kendall stay with us. They picked out their pumpkins together.
This is Ella's completed Sleeping Beauty pumpkin. Jameson made the pattern from one of Ella's coloring books and I poked/carved it out. And Ella made it her best friend.

We invited the Miners over to help us. With three boys, they didn't have any princess pumpkins, but Ella was still overjoyed with all the company.

Our finished products: smiley face, sleeping beauty, Smiley Face, bat, and a lemon. Jameson told me that simple patterns (ie lemons) are classier. And also that now that he has a job that he can't spend three days carving pumpkins anymore. Query whether anything can be classier than a Disney Princess.

How Claire makes ME laugh!

Claire LOVES our living room rug-- especially the fringe. Whenever I put her down, she rolls to the edge to grab them. Today I came in and found her bringing the mountain to Mohammed.

Be Bwave

I took the girls to the doctor and they each got some shots. Claire got some immunizations and Ella got her annual flu shot. I must have talked up the importance of "being brave" when something hurts because a few days later Ella gave me the same advice while she pretended to saw off my leg.

Killing Time

A friend in Moscow recommended we get a Leapster for Ella to help with the long plane ride to Houston. She was a little young to do it then, but she's a big fan now. Almost every day she diligently helps Dora rebuild the bridge to rescue the great horned owl.

She really likes to pause it when Dora is jumping or falling off something.
